What stays with you
Will Smith was born and raised in Newcastle, NSW. Family, community, culture, Country and sport were part of his upbringing. He remembers cultural dancing and going bush with his grandfather, father, uncles and cousins. Those memories are his to share, not a pattern to put on a coffee bag.
He is husband to Pauline and father to four. Those connections were there before professional rugby league, through the years he played, and when his working life moved into the mining industry.
Something of his own
ProudGround is a coffee brand, first and foremost. Will wants it to stand on its own, whether or not someone knows about his years playing football. The coffee has to be worth coming back to.
Behind the name is pride in where you come from, in the people beside you and in making something your children might one day look at and say, “Dad built that.” There is more of the story to discover without trying to fit every part of a life on a bag of coffee.
